FAQs for the Sleaford Coronation Celebration Events
WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE EVENTS?
The events will be held on Saturday 6th May 2023 from 9.00am to 7.30pm.The main event will be held at Boston Road Recreation Ground, Sleaford, with the Slea Paddlers holding a "Have a Try" day on the slipway at Eastgate Green and a Farmers' Market in the Market Place.
WHAT TIME ARE THE EVENTS?
The event at the Recreation Ground will take place from 9.00am to 7.30pm. Coverage of the Coronation will be shown on the back field from 9.00am to approx 4.00pm, with entertainment on the front field on a stage from 12.15pm to 7.30pm. Trade stalls and food and drink stalls will be open from 9.00am.
The Slea Paddlers event on the slipway at Eastgate Green will take place from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
The Farmers' Market will be held from approx 7.30am to 1.30pm.
ARE DOGS ALLOWED?
Yes, dogs will be welcome at the event but must be kept on a lead at all times.
WILL THERE BE PUBLIC CONVENIENCES AT THE EVENT?
Yes, as well as the two toilets at the kiosk in the Recreation Ground, we have hired plenty of portaloos for the day.
WILL THERE BE SEATING AVAILABLE?
Yes, there will be a large number of deckchairs for people to use at the Recreation Ground free of charge, which will be available on a first come, first served basis. There will also be tables and chairs set up in the picnic/drinks marquee. This will also be available on a first come, first served basis. There are benches located throughout the Recreation Ground and more have been hired in for the event. We encourage visitors to bring their own chairs to avoid any disappointment as we envisage that the seating provided will be very popular.
WILL THERE BE FOOD AND DRINK AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE?
Yes, there will be many delicious food and drink stalls at the event, including hot, soft and alcoholic drinks, pizzas, burgers, cakes, German sausages, vegan burgers, chips, sweet stalls, alsorts!
WILL THERE BE ITEMS TO BUY AT THE EVENT?
Yes, we have over 45 trade stalls booked for the event selling a wide range of wonderful items!
WILL THERE BE ENTERTAINMENT?
Yes, there will be a full programme of fantastic entertainment at the event, ending with our headline act Planet Abba at 6.00pm. The Sleaford Town Crier will be the Compere for the day. Please follow our Facebook page for all the times and details.
WHAT ATTRACTIONS WILL BE AT THE EVENT?
There will be face painting which will be free of charge and also a bouncy castle and inflatable, which will also be free of charge. The screening on the Coronation will be shown on a large screen from 9.00am on the back field. There will be no charge for this and there is no requirement to book.
WILL THERE BE ANY COMPETITIONS ON THE DAY?
We are holding a Best Dressed Shop and Business Window Competition which is being judged this week and a Children's Colouring Competition, which is also being judged this week. On the day of the event, there will be a Charity 1.2K Fun Run (there is only one space left which must be booked in advance) and a Flower Display Competition (entries taken on the day). WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE EVENT?
Due to the uncertainty of the British weather, we would advise visitors to wear suitable footwear to the event rather than sandals or flip flop type footwear. A jacket or rain gear would also be a suitable suggestion.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
The layby on Boston Road will be closed from the evening before the event to allow for emergency access at all times. Parking on the Recreation Ground will strictly be for traders, entertainers and attraction providers only. Visitors to the event can find parking in the car parks at Eastgate, Grantham Road, West Banks, Station Road, Cogglesford Mill, Jermyn Street, East Banks and Southgate. Please check in the individual car parks for details on charges and tickets.
