PRESS RELEASE – 8th November 2022

Sleaford Christmas Market

The much awaited Sleaford Christmas Market will be taking place on Sunday 27th November, from 11.00am to 4.30pm.

A fantastic 90 traders have booked onto the event which has been organised by Sleaford Town Council. It will all be held in the Market Place, Sleaford Town Hall, Navigation Yard, Eastgate Car Park and Eastgate Green.

You will find a lovely assortment of stalls, gifts and food and drink on offer on the day, together with live entertainment and attractions.

We have partnered up with Boston Road Rec Junior Parkrun for the morning of Christmas Market day! The Mayor of Sleaford and her Consort will be handing out Christmas medals to all the children who have taken part in the run which commences at 8.50am. Please register beforehand and collect your Parkrun barcode at www.parkrun.org.uk

At 10.45am, the Mayor of Sleaford, the Town Crier/Sleafordian of the Year, the two Young Sleafordians of the Year and Angels Dance Squad will walk from Sleaford Town Hall in Navigation Yard at 10.45am to the Market Place ready for the official opening of the Market at 11.00am. We are inviting everyone to join in with the walk to kick off the festivities of the day! Meet at the Town Hall (opposite The HUB) by 10.40am.

Live music and entertainment will take place throughout the day on the stage in the Market Place and will include Angels Dance Squad, the Sleaford Ukulele Orchestra, Beyond a Princess, Miss Sarah-Jane, Kesteven Morris Dancers and the Lincolnshire Vocal Academy. The PA will be provided by Express Entertainments.

There will be walkabout entertainment and music throughout our event sites by Twist and Make who is an award winning balloon modeller (the balloon models will be free of charge), Same Difference Arts with their Victorian Carol Singers, Beyond a Princess who will be bringing us Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Feet First Entertainment with fun family entertainment, unicycling and stilt walking. There will also be Father Christmas and his sleigh in the Market Place brought to the event by the Sleaford Kesteven Rotary Club and the Boston Showman who will be in Eastgate Car Park with his vintage fairground organ.

Fair rides and family game stalls will be in Eastgate Car Park bringing lots of fun for all! There will also be a bouncy castle on Eastgate Green and there will be no charge for children to use this.

In the Town Hall will be several stalls together with two face painters from Face Painting by Felicity. They will provide face painting and glitter tattoos for children free of charge!

Unfortunately, Lincoln Owl Rescue and the pony rides company, as advertised on our event posters, have had to withdraw from the event but we look forward to working with them in the future.

St Denys' Church in the Market Place will be holding a Christmas Service at 3.30pm on the day and this will be followed by the countdown to the Christmas lights switch on ceremony at 4.15pm.

There will be so much happening in Sleaford on the weekend of the Christmas Market! Navigation House, Millstream Square, Bristol Arcade and the Sleaford Legionnaires Club will all also be holding their Christmas Markets on Sunday 27th November, The Hub-Sleaford will be holding a Christmas Contemporary Makers Market on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th November, the Sleaford Methodist Church will be holding their annual Christmas Tree Festival also on the Saturday and Sunday. Rainbow Stars will be holding a Christmas Craft Fayre in the Solo Bar and Restaurant on Saturday 10th December.

We will be holding a Best Dressed Shop/Business Window Competition this year and this will be judged in the first week of December by the Mayor and Consort of Sleaford and the Deputy Mayor. We would love everyone to take part and letters have been hand delivered about the competition. The winner will be notified and will receive a special prize which will be presented by the Mayor.

We will also be holding a free Christmas raffle as we have done for the last few years. To be in with a chance of winning a meat voucher, a fruit voucher or a vegetable voucher to spend, all you need to do is put your name and contact details on a piece of paper and put it in the red post box on the front of Sleaford Town Hall or bring it into reception. Names will be drawn by the Mayor on Christmas Market day.
