Cllr Fernandes was first elected to the Town Council in May 2011 and was re-elected to it at the elections held on Thursday 4th May 2023.

Cllr Fernandes is a member of the Finance, Human Resources, Planning and Services committees of the Council as well as the Neighbourhood Plan Sub-Committee of the Planning Committee.

In addition Cllr Fernandes is the nominee of the Council to the board of the Witham First Internal Drainage Board, one of the Council's two representatives to meetings of the Lincolnshire Association of Local Councils and the Council's representatives to meetings of the North Kesteven District Council Wayfinding Signage Group.
