TOWN MAYOR
Councillor Jack Collings

Grammar school educated in Middlesex, I spent two years doing National Service with the Royal Air Force where I was selected for aircrew training, graduating as a pilot with 76/604 Squadrons based at North Weald, Essex.

Following completion of National Service I headed several I.T. Units, including one with staff responsibility for 150 people.  Latterly I  worked as an I.T. Consultant for several top computer users, then as Director for two software companies prior to taking early retirement.

In May 2003 I was elected as a Town Councillor for Navigation Ward and subsequently re-elected to the same ward in 2007.

I served as Deputy Mayor in 2006/7 and then as Mayor in 2007/8 and had the honour to be Deputy Mayor again in 2009/10 and have been fortunate to be elected Mayor for this current year of 2010/11.  In May 2011 I will have completed 8 years as a councillor.

I am married to Lorraine and we will have been together for 50 happy and successful years in March 2011.  During that entire period Lorraine has been a strong influence, contributing to my success since 1961 both as a devoted wife and friend.
