Annual Meeting of the Town Council

Weds 5 Jun 2013

Full Council

Sleaford Town Council took over the Market operations from North Kesteven District Council in November 2006.

The Market, which dates back to the early 12th Century, is held on the picturesque Market Place alongside St Denys’ Church. For most of the week the Market Place is a car park operated by the District Council, but on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays it is set up with stalls and traders coming from across the region to sell their wares, including fresh fruit and vegetables, plants and flowers, fish, meat, cheeses, snacks, clothes and accessories.

Christmas Market – The Market Place traditionally becomes part of the town’s Christmas celebrations, with a tree, lights and usually a Christmas Market with the Lights Switch On on Advent Sunday.

On the first Saturday of each month, Lincolnshire Farmers’ Market brings an extra 20 or so stalls all laden with local produce, including meats, honeys, preserves, bread, cakes and pies which, together with the appetising aromas of fresh-cooked venison and ostrich burgers, bring crowds from the town and surrounding areas.
