Sleaford Town Council - Open
Spaces
The Town Council owns and manages seven open
spaces within the town:
Boston Road
Park
Castlefield
Eastgate Green
George Street Play Area
Lincoln Road Play Area
Meadowfield Play Area
Woodside Play Area
The Town Council is also responsible for the
maintenance of play equipment at:
Peacock Court
Spire View
All the open spaces and play equipment are checked
weekly for damage and the areas are litter picked. The Play
Equipment is also inspected on an annual basis by a third party
company. Any equipment found to be damaged or faulty is
repaired or removed as soon as possible.

The Town Council maintains all its own open
spaces, this includes grass cutting, planting, hedges, play
areas, clearing litter, emptying litter bins.
Although the Town Council provides the majority
of dog waste bins, they are emptied by North Kesteven District
Council.
Boston Road Park
Situated on Boston Road this 13.8
acre site has many mature trees and is grassed throughout.
It is the largest of
the town's open spaces. It has the following facilities:
Toddler and Junior Play Areas

The toddler play area opened in the summer of
2007 and has proved to be extremely popular.
Skate Park

Toilets

These modern semiautomatic public toilets opened in
December 2007 and comprise of two individual units fully DDA
compliant and with baby changing facilities. The toilets can
be accessed from a tarmac path off Boston Road.
Opening times are:
October-March 8:30 am - 4:00pm daily.
April-September 8:30 am - 7:00pm daily.
The toilets may remain open longer if the Kiosk is open.
A small Kiosk is open every day from 11 am,
weather permitting, selling the usual hot and cold drinks and a
range of food and sweets.
Security cameras cover the majority of this open
space.

Dogs are welcome in the Park.
It is against the law to allow a dog to foul a public space and
not clear up after them, bins for disposing of dog waste are
provided at the entrances.
There is an annual fair held in the
Park.
It is intended to upgrade the
play equipment for older users in this park in 2009, any comments
or ideas on this equipment should be sent to the Services Manager.
Castlefield
This is the site of Sleaford Castle and is
accessed from Castle Causeway. The 6.2 acres is grassed over
the remains of the castle leaving mounds and hollows. The
area is managed to encourage wildlife.

Dogs are welcome in Castlefield but must be kept
on a lead. It is against the law to allow a dog to foul a
public space and not clear up after them, bins for disposing of
dog waste are provided.
Eastgate Green
This small 0.75 acre site is situated between
Eastgate Car Park and the River Slea, it is grassed and has many
mature trees.

clear up after them, bins for disposing of dog waste are provided.
George Street Play Area
The play area is accessed off George Street,
Rhodes Avenue and Dove Close, it is a 2.2 acre grassed site and
has the following facilities:
Toddler and Junior Play Equipment
Multisports Area

In 2006 this area benefited from a total
replacement of the play equipment, including a path and lighting
between the two entrances.
Dogs are welcome in George Street Play Area but
must be kept on a lead. It is against the law to allow a dog
to foul a public space and not clear up after them, a bin for
disposing of dog waste is provided.
Lincoln Road Play Area
Accessed from Lincoln Road and Lomax Drive this
1.2 acre site is grassed and has the following facilities:
In 2008 this area received a
complete replacement of the play equipment.
Toddler and Junior Play Equipment
Kick Wall
Dogs are banned from Lincoln Road Play Area.
Meadowfield Play Area
With entrances off Meadowfield and Newfield Road
this is the smallest of the Town Councils play areas at 0.75 of an
acre. This grassed area has benefited from a complete
replacement of the play equipment in 2005. The facilities in
this play area consists of:
Toddler and Junior Play Equipment
Kick Wall

Dogs are banned from Meadowfield Play Area.
Woodside Play Area
Comprising of a 5.5 acre grassed area this site is
located alongside Sleaford Wood which is managed by the
Woodland Trust.
Access is from Beech Rise and Summerfield Close. At this
time the only facilities are:
Multiplay Unit

Dogs are welcome in the Woodside Play Area.

not clear up after them, bins for disposing of dog waste are
provided at the entrances.
Peacock Court
This small fenced area at Peacock Court off
Mareham Lane consists of a toddler swing, springer and small
multiplay unit.
Spire View
This small fenced play area is situated on the
Spire View estate off Northfield Road in Quarrington and consists
of a multiplay unit and toddler swings.
The Town Council is not responsible for the
open spaces in these areas.
